I Am Currently Doing Music For The Youth – Lady Prempeh Explains

Ever since she won the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) New Gospel Artiste of the Year 2005 prize and joined the stars in the Ghanaian gospel music arena, Lady Prempeh has been a dynamic force in the gospel fraternity with More than two decades in the industry. Questioned about her look,her absence from the industry and her current genre of gospel music On Wednesday, December 4th, 2019 by Giovani Caleb in an exclusive interview on Accra’s hottest drive time show “the 3fm Drive”. the gospel diva attributed it to her fashion sense , stating she would always want to look good and that is the more reason why she is looking young at all times. Stressing on her beauty, the songstress went on to disclose the reason for her long break , saying “she took a break to observe what she has done so far in the music industry as a musician”.

Born Esther Abena Nyarkoa Prempeh in the early 80’s,Lady Prempeh who made a triumphant entry into the local gospel music ‘ring’ in 2004 with her punchy eight-track award-winning debut album, Onyame Ne Mekamafo (God is my Advocate) and followed it four years later with another popular one, Eho Ye (The ‘place’ is good), In the interview told Giovani Caleb and his cherished listeners the reason for her current genre of music. ” Coming back from the long break I felt there was the need for me to cut across to the youth with my gospel music and soon industry players will get to understand me”.

“My gospel music now is for the Youth and I want the youth to dance to trendy songs , more reason why I recorded a song with Kuami Eugene, one other reason was “I felt at a point the church was for the elderly and the youth were left out”.

Reaching out for the archives Giovani wanted to know whether it was the same reason that had prompted Lady Prempeh to start a whole circular movement in 2008 with Richie Mensah of Lynkz Entertainment and her answer was Yes.

Currently, Lady Prempeh is out with a new single off her yet to be released album titled “Me Kai Kai” which features over 20 gospel musicians in Ghana.
