The Music And Ministration Diary Of Ohemaa Mercy
Commencing and inducting herself into the gospel music industry in 2004, Ohemaa Mercy is a dynamic songwriter, singer, radio presenter, a wife and mother bent on winning souls for the Kingdom of God through her music.
“Adamfo Papa” the first and groundbreaking album of Ohemaa Mercy, took center stage of the industry, receiving massive airplay on various media platforms and other music distribution outlets. Causing her to minister on various platforms in 2004, the journey of her music and ministration continued to shine on.
2006 was magnanimous, Ohemaa Mercy got nominated in seven (7) categories at the Ghana Music Awards but went home without a plaque, same year she won the discovery of the year award at the Gospel Music Awards.
Not relenting on her previous achievements, the magnificent vocal powerhouse zoomed into “Edin Jesus” her second (2nd) album in 2007. Selling not just hundreds of copies, “Edin Jesus” was an instant hit, a slogan and jargon for many Christian brothers and sisters, making it the most purchased album in 2007. The song “Edin Jesus” achieved the ministration purpose of Ohemaa Mercy’s career and won her the “Gospel Album of the Year” and “Gospel Artist Of The Year” In 2008. Continuing her winning ways same year, she was honored with a National Honors Award by ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor.
In 2010–11 Ohemaa released her third album, “Wobeye Kese”, which again was the highest selling album and topped all the major chat shows in the country. Four months after its release, the album won her four nominations at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards. She won the Gospel Artiste of the year in Ghana and in Canada. She then received a nomination for the Best Female Artiste West Africa at the same Africa Gospel Music Awards in London.
Ministering on major platforms across the world and sharing same stage with renowned and international acclaimed minstrels such as as Andrae Crouch, Israel Houton, Don Moen, Darwin Hobbs, Juanita Bynum, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, to mention a few, Ohemaa Mercy earned a huge fun base, not only for the love of her music but also for her stage craft coupled with her prophetic declarations.
“Prophecy”, “His Word”, “Aforebo” albums followed and in 2014 she birthed “Tehillah Experience” an annual event organized mainly in August with Ohemaa Mercy as the headlined artiste. Celebrating the 5th anniversary of the event adjudged by many as one of the most attended gospel event in Ghana in 2018, the “Aseda” crooner invited her role model and mother in God’s ministry Juanita Bynum to be a part of the celebration in Ghana.
Currently on hibernation in the gospel scenes, preparing juicy musical contents for her fun base and the Christian body Dubbed the “New Me”. 2019 – Early 2020 witness another sterling performance of her ministry, she organized the 6th edition of Tehillah Experience, mounted huge platforms both home and abroad and has engaged in several donation exercise to help curb the spread of COVID 19.
